Alsina confronts the hantavirus crisis with the memory of covid-19: "There is no possible comparison, today, between the cruise and the pandemic"

Carlos Alsina started his monologue recalling “those days” of January 2020, when Spain followed with concern the evacuation of the Spaniards trapped in Wuhan and the Gómez Ulla hospital became a symbol of isolation due to a still unknown virus. “Then it was not a ship of one hundred and fifty travelers, but a city of thirteen million inhabitants”, he remarked.

The journalist linked that memory with the arrival in the Canary Islands of several passengers from the Hondius cruise ship to be subsequently transferred to Madrid. Although he insisted that “there is no possible comparison, today, between the cruise ship and the pandemic”, he admitted that hearing words like “infected”, “dead” or “isolation” inevitably stirs the emotional memory of COVID.

Alsina also criticized the management of the Executive with the announced protocol for travelers, especially after it was proposed that isolation in the Gómez Ulla be voluntary: “A strange quarantine this one”, he ironized. “Will he then be able to go wherever he wants?”, he asked, questioning that someone potentially infected could refuse the health control.

In the final part of the monologue, the communicator linked the health crisis with the mask trial affecting José Luis Ábalos, Koldo García and Víctor de Aldama. Alsina recalled that the former minister presented himself as “victim of a parallel trial”, while he defined Aldama, according to the Prosecutor's Office, as “the ringleader of a corrupt scheme” who now collaborates with justice.
