'American Horror Story' brings back its great icons for a 13th season that connects its entire universe: This is the trailer!

The universe of American Horror Story is about to look back like never before. The anthology created by Ryan Murphy is preparing its 13th season with a particularly anticipated return: some of the performers who have marked the history of the fiction will once again step into the shoes of characters that are already part of the series' imaginary.

Among them are Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters, three of the names most associated with the early seasons of American Horror Story. But the big news is not only in bringing them together again, but in the particular way in which the fiction will use their returns: the new season will bring back characters from different installments of the anthology and gather them within the same story. Thus, faces known for playing completely different characters over the years will be able to embody some of their most emblematic figures again.

Jessica Lange will return as four of her characters

The actress who starred in some of the most remembered seasons of the fiction will have a particularly prominent role. Jessica Lange will once again play four different characters from previous installments of the series.

Also Evan Peters will multiply his screen presence. The actor will take on five different roles, while Sarah Paulson will play up to six characters.

The proposal will even allow some of these characters to share scenes, creating unprecedented situations within a franchise accustomed to reusing its performers, but not necessarily bringing together within the same plot the different identities they have played.

Some of the most beloved characters also return

The reunion is not limited to Lange, Paulson, and Peters. Season 13 will bring back other faces linked to some of the most popular chapters of the anthology. Angela Bassett will return as Marie Laveau, one of the central characters of 'Coven', while Emma Roberts will reprise Madison Montgomery. Also returning will be Jamie Brewer, again as Adelaide Langdon.

Alongside them, the new season will incorporate faces that had not yet been part of the 'American Horror Story' universe, including Paul Anthony Kelly, John Waters, Avantika Vandanapu, Joey Pollari, and Alex Consani.

A season that plays with the series' own history

The decision represents a further step in a strategy that 'American Horror Story' has been developing for years. Although each season was initially conceived as an independent story, the fiction has been establishing connections between characters, places, and events to build an increasingly extensive shared mythology.

Now, season 13 seems determined to exploit precisely that collective memory. The series' past ceases to be merely a set of references to become an active part of the new story.

The move also comes as 15 years have passed since the premiere of American Horror Story. Since that first season set in the Harmon house, the anthology has gone through covens, hotels, circuses, apocalypses, cults, and different episodes of American history, making its own catalog of characters one of its greatest attractions.

The new installment promises to play directly with that legacy and bring together pieces that had remained separate for years. Season 13 of 'American Horror Story' will arrive on September 24, 2026, on Disney+ (September 25 in Spain), with a cast that makes the anthology's return one of its most ambitious reunions.
