Carlos Alsina has announced this Monday one of the most important decisions of his professional career: he will stop presenting the informative segment of ‘Más de uno’ on Onda Cero after more than three decades dedicated to daily information and opinion on radio. The communicator explained to listeners that, after 33 years leading informative programs, he feels that the time has come to step aside. “I have come to the conclusion that I have worn out”, he confessed in an emotional on-air speech in which he reviewed his career and advocated for another way of doing radio beyond political news.

The journalist will remain linked to the station and, from September, will be solely in charge of the second segment of Más de uno, focused on entertainment, culture, and dissemination content. Alsina also defended that type of radio “that keeps company” and assured that he feels like “waking up less early” and recovering personal time after decades of intense rhythm. “When you are 25 years old you conquer the world and when you are 56 going on 57, you settle for the world not conquering you”, he stated during his intervention.

The new stage of Onda Cero will also bring important changes in programming. Rafa Latorre will be in charge of leading the first informative segment of Más de uno, while Marta García Aller will assume the direction of La Brújula, relieving Latorre himself. Alsina highlighted the professional growth of both journalists and defined this renewal as a natural evolution of a program “designed to last”.

During his partial farewell from the informative mornings, Alsina also wanted to launch a reflection on the role of radio and political polarization. “We are not here to overthrow governments nor to help someone arrive who has not been capable on their own feet”, he pointed out, regretting that often the work of communicators is reduced solely to their supposed ideological affinity. The journalist also denied any theory about internal or external pressures in his decision and made it clear that the change has been completely voluntary: “I have decided to relieve myself. It is a self-relegation”.
