Carlos Sánchez and Antón Losada criticize Feijóo in 'Mañaneros 360' for his attitude towards the Ceuta crisis: "It will only generate fear"

Carlos Sánchez and Antón Losada have analyzed in Mañaneros 360 the crisis in Ceuta from its international dimension. The conversation began with the possible connections between Morocco, the United States, and Israel and Spain's position on issues such as foreign policy, immigration, and the war in Gaza. The journalists thus placed the situation of the autonomous city within a broader geopolitical scenario.

In this first analysis, Sánchez argued that a crisis of these characteristics should provoke a closing of ranks of the different political forces around the Government. The journalist regretted that this has not happened in Spain and pointed to both the Popular Party and the Executive, which he also reproaches for not having sought enough allies. In his opinion, it is a "matter of State" that demands a joint political response.

Losada agreed in differentiating the geostrategic dimension from the reality being experienced in Ceuta. The journalist believes that Spain and Pedro Sánchez occupy a particularly relevant position in certain tensions of European foreign policy and that Morocco would have taken advantage of that context. "Morocco saw an opportunity. I believe it got out of hand, that they didn't want to go that far," he pointed out.

From there, Losada focused on the current situation of the autonomous city and the need not to lose sight of its humanitarian dimension. In his opinion, the Government has dedicated too much attention to the geopolitical scenario while a humanitarian crisis that requires an immediate response persists. In this regard, he also warned about the scope of the debate around the single command: "A single command is not a solution, a single command is an instrument, but a single command to do what?".

The conversation subsequently addressed the statements by Alberto Núñez Feijóo about the possibility of applying a lockdown in Ceuta. Losada began by differentiating this measure from the sanitary isolation contemplated in the protocols for people who may be contagious. The journalist thus questioned whether the debate about a general lockdown could be posed as a strictly sanitary issue.

Losada also focused on Feijóo's knowledge of this matter and his experience during the pandemic. "He does know about health matters," he pointed out, before considering it especially worrying that the leader of the PP proposes a measure that, in his opinion, does not correspond to epidemiological criteria. "He knows that what he is saying is not correct and that it will only sow alarm," he affirmed.

The journalist was especially critical of the consequences of this type of message. "The only thing it will do is generate fear, which in sanitary, epidemiological terms, is an absolute stupidity and counterproductive," sentenced Losada, who believes that the opposition should focus its efforts on proposing alternatives and concrete solutions for the population of Ceuta.

Finally, Losada extended his criticism to the PP's political approach to the crisis and summarized his position with a forceful phrase: "The PP does not see Ceuta, it sees the Ceutians. The PP sees Pedro Sánchez." In his opinion, this focus on confrontation with the President of the Government prevents putting the city's residents, their problems, and the necessary measures to face the situation in the foreground.
