The program Horizonte, presented by Iker Jiménez, has experienced one of its most controversial moments after the intervention of one of its collaborators, doctor José Cabrera, who did not hesitate to come out in defense of judge Juan Carlos Peinado and harshly criticize several government ministers.
During his speech, Cabrera praised without nuance the work of the magistrate, assuring that “he works between 14 and 15 hours daily” and that his instructions are “technically impeccable”. Furthermore, he denounced what he considers a political campaign against him: “Now all the ministers come out in droves for him. This is intolerable”, he affirmed, claiming judicial independence.
However, the biggest controversy came when the collaborator went further and launched a reflection on the past: “In the darkest moments of the Francoist dictatorship, as some call it, judges were untouchable”, a statement that has generated strong rejection and debate. Cabrera also insisted on the personal pressure the magistrate is under, assuring that “he cannot leave home without hiding” and that he is subjected to an unprecedented situation in his career.
