Ilia Topuria is going through a delicate moment after his defeat against Justin Gaethje in the event held at the White House. The Spanish-Georgian had to be transferred directly to the hospital in Washington D. C. after the fight, following the usual UFC protocol in highly demanding events.

During the confrontation, Gaethje accumulated constant punishment on Topuria's face, especially in the area of the right eye and cheekbones, which forced his team to stop the fight at the end of the fourth round. UFC president, Dana White, offered the most relevant information so far and showed concern for the situation of the former champion. "Yes, Ilia is in the hospital. He's busted up. I'm not a doctor, but he probably has a broken orbital bone in his eye," he declared, emphasizing the toughness of the fight and the medical uncertainty.

White also insisted that the priority now is the fighter's recovery and that there is no rush for his return to the octagon: "My plan for him is to go home, rest, recover and take his time," he stressed, making it clear that the athlete's health is above any competitive calendar.
