Journalist Elisa Beni has questioned on Telemadrid the news coverage received by the so-called penthouse of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, considering that the matter acquired a disproportionate media dimension compared to its initially local nature.
During her intervention on Telemadrid, Beni focused especially on the coverage by Televisión Española, pointing out that the public channel dedicated "hours and hours" to the issue. In her opinion, even if there were any doubts to clarify, it was still "a local issue".

"Suddenly it didn't matter because it was slipped into national news as if the Third World War was about to begin," said the journalist, referring to the treatment the matter received in news programs. Beni also pointed out that the case of Ayuso's penthouse ended up being incorporated into the national political debate, to the point that the President of the Government even referred to it in the Congress of Deputies.
The journalist stated that this circumstance particularly caught her attention from a professional point of view: "As a journalist, that lack of criteria regarding what is local, national information, what is more relevant and less, grates on me."
Beni thus centers her criticism on the supposed lack of proportionality of the media, but her characterization of the matter as a mere "local issue" relegates to the background precisely the political dimension that caused the controversy to transcend the borders of the Community of Madrid.
