The program Malas Lenguas reacted with surprise and strong criticism to statements made by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during her interview on Espejo Público with Susanna Griso, where she stated that “practically everyone in the third world has a mobile phone”.

Ayuso's words generated an intense debate in the space presented by Jesús Cintora, who decided to broadcast the segment to comment on it live. On set, several collaborators showed their disbelief at the statement, to the point of asking for the video to be replayed due to how difficult it was to believe what they had heard.

Journalist Esther Palomera reacted with surprise and questioned the meaning of the statements, while other analysts present on the program described the comment as “cruel” and “ignorant”, asserting that it simplifies a much more complex reality about living conditions in many countries.

During the debate, the collaborators stressed that in numerous regions of the world, access to basic resources such as drinking water, food, or sanitation remains extremely limited, and that Ayuso's statement would not reflect the real conditions at all. Sarah Santaolalla also referred to the situation of migrations and deaths in the Mediterranean Sea as context for the discussion.

The moment has generated strong political and media controversy, once again placing the statements of the Madrid president at the center of public debate.
