RTVE has presented at the FesTVal of Vitoria 2026 the first images of 'El Escondite', its new entertainment bet for prime time on La 1. The contest marks the debut of Grison as a solo presenter and transfers the classic children's game of hide-and-seek to a spectacular television format starring 18 celebrities.
The public channel has revealed what the grand stage where the competition takes place looks like: an enormous house with two floors and more than 120 hiding places, with rooms, stairs, a kitchen, passageways, and all kinds of corners designed to test the contestants' ability to hide without being discovered.
Grison debuts as a solo presenter
'El Escondite' represents a new challenge for Grison, known for his participation in La Revuelta, who for the first time takes the lead of a television format as the main presenter.
"It has been a challenge. It's the first time I've presented, and also, in a type of format where you have to learn rules, follow a script...", he explained during the program's presentation in Vitoria.
The comedian also acknowledged that facing this project has forced him to change his usual dynamic: "In my usual disorder, putting a bit of order has been very good for me". Grison assured that they have enjoyed a lot during the recordings and expressed confidence that the program can have continuity with new seasons.
The presenter has also made it clear that the Spanish version will have its own personality. The original Dutch format had, in his opinion, a "somewhat colder" tone, while in Spain they have opted to add "the Iberian vibe, with more mischief and more humor". A mix of profiles that is reflected in the casting. "From Bertín Osborne to Inés Hernand has come, both Spains fit there", Grison joked.

This is the spectacular set of 'El Escondite'
The stage is one of the great attractions of RTVE's new contest. The channel has built within a large set a gigantic house distributed over two floors and with more than 120 possible hiding places.
Contestants will be able to use practically any space to hide: from rooms and stairs to the kitchen, passageways, and other corners specially designed to complicate the search.
The proposal is the Spanish adaptation of The House of Hide and Seek, a format created by Talpa Studios, David Grifhorst, and FOX Entertainment Studios. In Spain, the program is produced by RTVE in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP Spain and Talpa Studios. The recordings were carried out in the Netherlands, specifically at the Talpa Studios production hub.
How 'El Escondite' works
The mechanics start from a premise as simple as it is recognizable: hide and prevent others from finding you. However, participants will first have to overcome different challenges that will determine which contestants can hide and which will have to assume the role of seekers.
Each program features six celebrities, who face a series of games before entering the house. Their results will decide who gets the right to hide and who must become a seeker.
The competition will progress until two contestants from each program secure a spot in the grand final. In it, the six finalists of the season will face each other to decide who is the best player of El Escondite. The winner will also be able to donate the prize money to an NGO of their choice.
The 18 celebrities participating in the contest
RTVE has completed the casting for the first edition with 18 well-known faces from very different fields, from television and music to sports and social media.
Among the participants are Paco Tous, Rosa López, Sergio Bezos, Belinda Washington, Inés Hernand, Bertín Osborne, Asha, and Kira Miró. Joining them are Javi Hoyos, Vicco, Ana Fernández, Miquel Montoro, Pepón Nieto, Jorge Garbajosa, Álvaro Casares, Elena Furiase, Guillermo Furiase, and Valeria Vegas.
A heterogeneous cast that fits Grison's intention to bring together very different profiles in the same program and pit them against each other in a competition where strategy will be fundamental.
Inés Hernand, delighted with Grison's debut
Inés Hernand, one of the contestants of the first edition, also participated in the program's presentation alongside Grison and singer Vicco.
Hernand has especially highlighted the work of the new presenter, whom she has defined as "magnetic" at the helm of the format. "People are going to connect with you and you make everything very easy," she pointed out. The presenter has also defended RTVE's commitment to the contest and has assured that it is a format capable of surprising the viewer.
"I was born with TV, I was educated thanks to television and I can say that this is a format that manages to surprise. Nowadays it is difficult to see surprising things on TV and this is a unique format," she affirmed.
With Grison at the helm, 18 celebrities and a gigantic house with more than 120 hiding places, RTVE is thus preparing one of its new bets for the entertainment of La 1, recovering a universal game to turn it into a television competition of strategy, humor and skill.
