The television adaptation of Harry Potter on HBO Max will go ahead with a second season already guaranteed, according to Deadline, even before the premiere of the first, scheduled for December 25.

The platform has greenlit ten new episodes, reinforcing its commitment to one of its most ambitious productions based on the work of J. K. Rowling.

In the creative sphere, an adjustment has occurred in the script team. Francesca Gardiner, main person in charge of the series, will now share duties with Jon Brown, with whom she already collaborated on Succession. The decision does not respond to a loss of confidence, but rather to the need to accelerate the writing and production process.

The objective is to avoid major delays between seasons, as the filming schedule will be especially demanding: it is even foreseen that both installments will be developed almost in parallel to maintain the production pace. This adjustment also responds to a key challenge of the series: the growth of the actors who play Harry, Ron, and Hermione, which forces an adjustment of times to maintain the coherence of the story throughout the years.

With this new approach, the big unknown is whether the series will be able to maintain an annual release pace or if it will need more leeway between seasons as its ambitious journey progresses.
