Jesús Cintora took advantage of the latest broadcast of Malas Lenguas to defend the current moment of TVE and respond to the criticism that, in his opinion, the public corporation receives from different political and media spheres.

The journalist maintained that there is a campaign against TVE promoted by certain sectors linked to the PP and Vox parties and linked these criticisms to the channel's audience growth. “This is not a matter of content, it is a matter of money,” he stated, suggesting that the good results of public television directly affect some private channels.

During his speech, Cintora also sent a message that many interpreted as a reference to Antonio Ferreras and the audios released in 2022 about his conversations with former commissioner Villarejo. “We, unlike others, do not meet with Villarejo to talk about how to go against political leaders,” he pointed out. “I wouldn't even have a coffee with Villarejo,” he added.

The presenter also wanted to assert his professional independence, assuring that he has never received instructions from any political leader. According to him, part of the criticism responds to the discomfort generated by TVE's current performance in terms of audience.

Cintora also responded to the criticism from the PP spokesperson, Borja Sémper, about the lack of transparency at RTVE. The journalist defended that the corporation's contracts and production data are public and accessible through the official website, accusing those who claim otherwise of trying to “confuse and deceive people.” Finally, he asserted the pluralism of his program and recalled that representatives of different political parties have been invited to participate in it, including Sémper himself, whom he reproached for not having accepted to appear on the show.

Criticism of TVE also focused part of the subsequent debate, where recent statements by Alberto Núñez Feijóo about the public corporation were responded to. The program rejected the comparison of RTVE with the old Francoist NO-DO and defended the plurality of the channel, inviting the popular leader to come to the space to debate about the independence and informational balance of public television.

For his part, journalist Jesús Maraña stated that plurality should be measured by the diversity of voices present in the media and recalled professional experiences in which, he recounted, he was excluded from certain public media during PP governments. In addition, he encouraged comparing the functioning of RTVE with that of some regional televisions governed by PP and Vox to evaluate the degree of informational pluralism existing in each of them.
