The Professor of Constitutional Law Joaquín Urías has analyzed this Saturday on the program Malas Lenguas the delay in the judicial authorization requested by the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard within the framework of the investigation into the partner of the Madrid president Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

According to him, the request to access certain bank accounts linked to the case would have been made in December and, several months later, it would still not have been resolved by the investigating court. Urías stressed that this type of proceeding, under normal conditions, usually takes a few days to process, which in his opinion makes the delay in this case particularly striking.

The jurist pointed out that the situation occurs in a complex investigation and in a court that, like others, may be saturated, although he warned that the delay prevents progress in obtaining key economic evidence for the investigation. In this regard, he stated that the paralysis of these proceedings directly affects the development of the procedure.

Urías was also asked about the difference in pace between different judicial cases of political relevance, citing other proceedings in Madrid, and pointed out that the management of time in the investigation largely depends on the investigating judge, who has a wide margin of autonomy.

Although he avoided attributing intentionality to judicial decisions, the constitutionalist concluded that the disparity in deadlines fuels public debate about possible differences in criteria in the administration of Justice depending on the case. "It is evident that the standards are different and that Justice, in its ability to manage time, does not behave the same with those of one side as with those of another," he concluded.
