José Sacristán visited this Monday the program La Revuelta, presented by David Broncano, in an interview in which he reviewed his theatrical career and offered several reflections on current affairs, politics, and religion.
The actor, who is going through a stage focused on theater with the play El hijo de la cómica, confirmed that his relationship with cinema and television is practically closed, as he now prioritizes the stage.
During the conversation, Sacristán also addressed the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain. A declared atheist and critic of the Church, he surprised by qualifying his stance when evaluating some of the pontiff's messages, especially regarding immigration. "If there is a group I don't like, it's priests, but I must say that, hearing Leo XIV the other day, I not only congratulate him, I celebrate it, but I even thank him for his point of view and his pronouncements on certain issues, such as immigration," the actor stated live.
Sacristán also highlighted the Pope's "brilliant oratory" and praised his discursive ability, in an intervention that later led to political and social reflections that marked one of the most commented moments of the program.
He also took the opportunity to praise the intervention of Antonio Banderas and concluded that, in the current international context, he found "formidable anyone who stands up to that brute called Donald Trump."
