Lola Lolita confesses to Henar Álvarez the controversy that marked her the most: "I was a year with memes"

Lola Lolita recalled in Al cielo con ella, Henar Álvarez's program on La 1, one of the most surreal controversies she has experienced since becoming one of Spain's most followed content creators. The influencer explained that the hoax that she had been seen smoking in a bar came to haunt her for months, despite her claiming to detest tobacco.

"I am super anti-tobacco. I detest it and no one in my family smokes. They invented a rumor of 'Lola Lolita caught smoking in a bar', it went super viral on Twitter and it was a super heavy thing. I was with memes for a whole year," she recalled. As she explained, many people came to believe she smoked and the rumor led to all kinds of jokes on social media.

The content creator confessed that the situation reached unexpected levels when the hoax coincided with the death of Elizabeth II. "It coincided with the Queen's death and they started saying that I was smoking her ashes... Well, it was a super weird thing," she commented with a laugh.

After hearing her story, Henar Álvarez wanted to downplay the matter with a joke: "And you, honey, the one who smokes is Victoria Federica, not me." Lola Lolita acknowledged that, despite the uproar, today she takes those episodes with humor: "People on the internet are very funny when they want to be," while the presenter admitted that, when the jokes make her laugh, she also ends up laughing at herself.
