Luis Arroyo reviews the war between Casado and Ayuso and issues a warning about the regional president of Madrid: "I think she has already gone off the curve."

The political relationship between Pablo Casado and Isabel Díaz Ayuso traversed in just a few years the path that separates alliance from confrontation. This was reviewed jointly with Luis Arroyo in the nocturnal edition of Malas lenguas broadcast this Saturday, where he recalled the main episodes that marked the rupture between both leaders and the subsequent fall of the former president of the Popular Party.

The origin of that relationship dates back to 2018, when Casado became president of the PP and began to surround himself with figures who represented a generational renewal of the party. A year later, the then popular leader backed Ayuso for the Community of Madrid. The program also recalled the decisive role that, in his opinion, Ayuso's resounding victory in the Madrid elections on May 4, 2021 had in the evolution of that relationship and in Casado's national aspirations.

The situation changed radically with the confrontation over information about a mask contract related to Ayuso's brother. Arroyo recalled how Casado publicly questioned that a relative of his could obtain a commission of 300,000 euros in the midst of a pandemic. That dispute triggered an internal crisis of enormous magnitude in the PP that ended with Casado's departure from the party leadership. The leader himself then denounced that the national leadership had acted in a "cruel" manner against him.

During his intervention, Arroyo also focused on Ayuso's current situation and questioned her political trajectory. The analyst argued that a part of the popular leaders and militants might be observing with concern the accumulation of controversies surrounding the Madrid president and used a metaphor to describe her situation: "She is going too fast. And she is going to go off the curve. I think she has already gone off the curve".

Arroyo also linked that situation to the controversies related to Ayuso's partner and to the explanations offered about the origin of certain income and real estate operations. In this context, he maintained that the president of the Community of Madrid is facing a particularly complicated scenario and even considered that she could have become a "broken toy for national politics", also recalling the episode that, as he recalled, caused the biggest rift between Ayuso and Casado: that the then leader of the PP questioned that he had accepted a commission of 300,000 euros linked to a family member.
