Netflix has started the filming of El acercamiento de la mujer cactus y el hombre globo, its new Spanish romantic film starring Macarena García and Carlos Cuevas, in an adaptation of the debut novel by the artist Rayden (David Martínez Álvarez). The project, which is already being filmed in Madrid, reinforces the platform's commitment to national romantic cinema with a contemporary perspective.
The film, directed by Kike Maíllo, features Macarena García as Sáhara, an ironic and emotionally shielded florist against love, while Carlos Cuevas plays Ciro, a delivery driver who has also learned to distrust romantic relationships. Both characters meet in the city in a series of encounters that will end up testing their own emotional barriers.
The story combines romantic comedy and drama with an urban focus, exploring themes such as the fear of commitment, second chances, and the emotional contradictions of a generation that tries to protect itself from sentimental pain. Alongside the protagonists, the cast includes names such as Eva Llorach, Santiago Korovsky and Silma López, reinforcing the choral tone of the story.
With a screenplay by Enric Navarro and production by Sábado Time, the film joins Netflix's line of literary adaptations in Spain, consolidating the platform's interest in bringing recent editorial phenomena to the audiovisual. The story unfolds amidst bicycles, flower shops, and the emotional rhythm of a city that acts as a setting and reflection of its protagonists.
