Peter Jackson has confirmed his return to the universe of The Lord of the Rings with a new film that has caught the saga's followers by surprise. The project will feature the script by presenter and writer Stephen Colbert, in collaboration with Peter McGee, which adds an unexpected element to the development of this new stage.
The film, titled The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past, is set 14 years after Frodo's death and brings back classic characters like Sam, Merry, and Pippin, who will once again star in a completely new story. This time, the plot also introduces Sam's daughter, who will become involved in a mystery linked to the events of the War of the Ring.

Furthermore, the project will explore unadapted material from the original work of J.R.R. Tolkien, which will allow for the expansion of the narrative universe with untold stories and a different vision from that of the previous trilogies.
The announcement has generated a notable stir among fans, both for Jackson's return and for Colbert's unexpected participation, placing Middle-earth again in the center of all eyes.
