As summer approaches, anticipation grows around The Odyssey, the new film by Christopher Nolan after the success of Oppenheimer. The British director returns to the big screen with an adaptation of Homer's epic poem, in a production that brings together some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

The cast is headed by Matt Damon as Odysseus, accompanied by Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena, Jon Bernthal as Menelaus, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, Mia Goth as Melantho, John Leguizamo as Eumaeus and Himesh Patel as Eurylochus. Joining them are names such as Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Elliot Page, Corey Hawkins, Ryan Hurst, Bill Irwin and James Remar, among other performers whose roles have not yet been revealed.

During a special presentation at the CinemaCon organized by Universal Pictures, Christopher Nolan showed a new preview of the project that confirmed one of the key roles of Charlize Theron: Calypso, the nymph who governs the island of Ogigia and who retains Odysseus for seven years on his long journey back to Ithaca.

In the images shown, Odysseus appears stranded on the shore, without clear memories of his past, asking Calypso how he got there and how long he has been trapped on the island. This moment reinforces the tone of loss and disorientation of the character, one of the central axes of the original story.

The film, produced by Universal Pictures, continues to generate enormous anticipation in the industry. According to the information released, even the presale of IMAX tickets would have registered exceptional demand months in advance for some sessions, which reinforces its status as one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

The premiere of The Odyssey is scheduled for July 17, 2026, consolidating itself as one of the great cinematic events of the calendar and one of the most ambitious bets of recent epic cinema.
