Panic in 'El Intermedio's Zarzuela over the emeritus's leap to cinema: "One thing is to sponge off the Spanish people and another to sponge off my family."

News and entertainment once again went hand in hand in laSexta's 'prime time'. 'El Intermedio' took advantage of the commotion surrounding Juan Carlos I's memoirs to imagine his inevitable leap to the seventh art. The program staged the panic attack suffered by a fictitious Felipe VI upon discovering that his progenitor is negotiating the rights to his life with platforms like Netflix to earn his own money. "What movie? And then you make the series, and the musical on Broadway, and then Juan Carlos On Ice and you break your hip again skating"

"One thing is to sponge off the Spanish people and another off my own family," the emeritus has blurted out in full defense of his plan, making it clear that he wants to start generating income on his own. The tension rises when the emeritus responds with the phrase "How bitter you are... My life is enough for a trilogy and yours, at most, for a micro-play," an ironic allusion to the contrast between the two.

After several attempts by the son to stop the production and new, increasingly exaggerated ideas about possible adaptations, they lead to a compromise solution: a film directed by Santiago Segura in the key of family comedy under the title "There's Only One Emeritus." The idea is accepted in fiction by the emeritus himself, who also hints at his interest in appearing in future installments of the 'Torrente' saga, in an ending that mixes humor and nods to Spanish cinema.
