The series Ravalear, created by Pol Rodríguez and co-directed with Isaki Lacuesta, will arrive on HBO Max in Spain in May 2026, after its international premiere this Tuesday at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) within the Special Series section.
Produced by Arcadia and Supernova and co-produced with the regional television station 3Cat, the series is a thriller inspired by real events: it narrates the struggle of a family from the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona to save their century-old restaurant, renamed in fiction as Can Mosques, against real estate speculation and an investment fund.
Rodríguez and Lacuesta co-direct the first two episodes of this six-chapter production with a cast led by Enric Auquer, María Rodríguez Soto, Sergi López and Francesc Orella, among others. It addresses social issues such as the housing crisis, neighborhood identity, and urban transformations that affect entire communities.
The screening at Berlinale represents a before and after for Ravalear, by becoming one of the first Spanish series selected in the festival's official section, reflecting the growing presence and quality of Spanish audiovisual productions in international circuits.
