The saga of The Hunger Games expands again with the release of the first trailer for Sunrise on the Reaping, the new prequel that transports the viewer to Panem's past, specifically to the second Quarter Quell, during the 50th edition of the Hunger Games.
The story is set 24 years before the events of the original film and focuses on a particularly cruel edition of the games, in which 48 tributes participate. Among them stands out a young Haymitch Abernathy, a key figure in the saga's later universe, whose origin as a victor begins to take shape in this new installment.
The trailer previews the return to the darker and more brutal tone of the franchise, with images that hint at the magnitude of the televised spectacle in the Capitol and the tension between the different districts. Although complete action scenes have not yet been revealed, the preview reinforces the feeling of being before one of the most decisive editions of the games.
The direction is once again in the hands of Francis Lawrence, responsible for several installments of the saga and one of the great architects of Panem's visual style. His continuity reinforces the identity of the franchise, which maintains a commitment to spectacle, tension, and the construction of an increasingly broad and detailed world, although the first trailer has not yet shown complete action scenes.
One of the great attractions of this prequel is its ensemble cast, which brings together top-tier figures such as Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Maya Hawke or Jennifer Lawrence, who will even make a cameo alongside Josh Hutcherson, generating one of the most striking crossovers of the saga.
Dawn in the Harvest will arrive in cinemas on November 20, consolidating the expansion of the universe created by Suzanne Collins and keeping alive one of the most influential dystopian sagas of contemporary cinema.
