RTVE counter-programs the Eurovision final with the premiere of 'La Casa de la Música' on La 1

RTVE has announced the broadcast of a special program of La Casa de la Música next May 16 at 22:00h on La 1, coinciding with the final of Eurovision 2026, a contest from which the corporation will neither participate nor broadcast its galas in this edition.

The new format, presented by Jesús Vázquez, is born as a great musical bet by public television to give prominence to national and international talent on a night traditionally marked by the European festival. The special will feature 23 guest artists, among whom stand out names such as Chanel, Raphael, Manuel Carrasco, Mónica Naranjo, Ana Belén, Mikel Erentxun and the winners of Benidorm Fest 2026, in addition to other emerging artists from the current scene.

The format's director, Eva Tovar, has explained that the program will have an approximate duration of two and a half hours and that it will focus on live music, with performances both on set and outdoors, seeking a "careful and emotional" staging.

According to RTVE, the objective is to create a space where different musical styles, generations, and sensibilities coexist, combining established figures with new talents who succeed on digital platforms. The project will also feature a strong scenographic commitment led by Francis Viñolo, responsible for large television musical formats, and with the participation of musical advisor César Vallejo.

La Casa de la Música already had a first special broadcast on New Year's Eve 2025, where it achieved a notable audience and brought together artists such as La Oreja de Van Gogh, Lola Índigo, Amaia, Nicki Nicole or Ana Torroja in different performances recorded from emblematic locations in Spain.

With this new edition, RTVE strengthens its commitment to major live musical events on a key night for European television.
