The 2026 World Cup final will take an unprecedented leap by incorporating for the first time a halftime show inspired by the Super Bowl. FIFA has confirmed that the show will be headlined by three names of global impact: Shakira, Madonna and BTS, turning the match break into a musical event of planetary scope.

The title match, which will be played on July 19, 2026 in New York, will see its intermission extended beyond the regulatory 15 minutes to accommodate a large-format production. The idea follows the model of the Super Bowl halftime, where the musical show is almost as relevant as the sporting event itself.

The show will be produced, according to the clip released, with singer Chris Martin (Coldplay) alongside the Muppets puppets and the Global Citizen initiative, in a format designed to unite music, pop culture, and charitable purposes.

The choice of Shakira also reinforces her link with World Cup anthems, after her participation in previous editions of the tournament, while the joint presence of Madonna and BTS underscores the global and transversal nature of the event, which aims to become one of the most watched television moments in sports history. With this move, FIFA seeks to merge sport, entertainment, and pop culture on the same global stage, elevating the final to the category of a mega-television event with an intergenerational and multicultural character designed to dominate global conversation.
