Social media and the streaming environment have been shocked after the confirmation of the death of Argentine content creator Gaspi and American singer Oliver Tree, following the crash of two helicopters in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Gaspi, known in the YouTube and social media environment for his controversial style and his participation in events such as La Velada del Año, had achieved great popularity among young audiences in both Latin America and Spain. His death has caused an immediate wave of farewell messages and condolences.
Along with him, Oliver Tree Nickell, an American musician known for his irreverent aesthetic, his cartoonish image, and his eccentric personality, which made him a prominent figure within the international alternative music scene, also lost his life. His visual style and his way of understanding entertainment had consolidated him as a unique artist within the industry.
The news has generated an immediate wave of reactions among some of the most influential streamers in the Spanish-speaking scene, who have shared messages of condolence and surprise on their social media. The impact has been especially notable in the digital community, where Gaspi had followers in both Latin America and Spain.
Streamer Auronplay was one of the first to speak out, expressing his sadness and describing the situation as deeply shocking, while sending a message of support to the content creator's family and friends. “Lately life seems to be written by one of my greatest enemies. I can't take it anymore. Rest in peace both of you, I had a lot of appreciation for you,” he wrote in his latest Instagram story.
For his part, Ibai Llanos also reacted publicly, calling the news an “absolute disgrace” and showing his affection for the Argentine's close circle. In his Instagram story, he also added about Gabi: “One of the most wonderful and talented people I have ever met in my life.” Other creators such as El Xokas, Jordi Wild, and El Rubius have also shared farewell messages, highlighting his creativity, charisma, and the impact he had on the community.
Qué absoluta desgracia. Qué absoluta tristeza. Y qué mierda es esta vida a veces. No sé ni que decir. Descansa en paz, Gaspi.
