Steven Spielberg returns to science fiction with The Day of Revelation (original title Disclosure Day), a film about the global impact that discovering irrefutable proof of extraterrestrial life would cause. The story poses a global scenario in which humanity faces a historic revelation: what would happen if it were officially confirmed that we are not alone in the universe?
The plot follows several people who become involved in that discovery while governments and authorities try to control the information. The film stars Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo, with a screenplay by David Koepp, a frequent collaborator of Spielberg on titles such as Jurassic Park.
The project, produced by Amblin Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures, marks the director's return to the realm of extraterrestrials more than two decades after War of the Worlds (2005), and connects with a key part of his filmography marked by classics such as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial or Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The premiere of The Day of Revelation is scheduled for June 12, 2026 in theaters, and the new trailer previews a science fiction thriller with conspiracies, government secrets, and the possible first contact with an alien civilization.
