The celebration for the 25th anniversary of Operación Triunfo will have to wait. Gestmusic has decided to postpone the big event with which it intended to commemorate the quarter century of the musical talent show, as exclusively advanced by verTele. The event was scheduled for this October, coinciding with the anniversary of the opening of the Academy of the first edition, but finally it cannot be held on the initially planned date.
The production company directed by Tinet Rubira had been working for months on a large-scale reunion that aimed to bring together more than 200 contestants who have passed through the different editions of 'OT'. The project also contemplated the presence of former teachers, jury members, and Academy directors, with the intention of gathering on the same stage a good part of the faces that have been part of the program's history during its 25 years.
The postponement responds, according to the published information, to production issues and the necessary deadlines to carry out an event of such magnitude. The celebration, therefore, is not ruled out: Gestmusic maintains the project and is already working on a new date within the current television season, although the option of moving it to early 2027 is gaining strength. A particularly symbolic possibility would be February 11, 2027, the date on which 25 years will have passed since the final of the first edition, the one in which Rosa López was proclaimed winner.
A celebration that could end up coinciding with another historic anniversary
The delay would allow Gestmusic to gain time to shape the reunion it had planned and prevent such an ambitious celebration from being conditioned by production deadlines. The intention is for the 25th anniversary to maintain its character as a major event and bring together representatives of the different generations that have passed through the format since its premiere.
The move also comes while Operación Triunfo remains assured of its continuity on Prime Video. The platform has already confirmed a new edition, 'OT 2027', which will arrive in October 2027 and will once again feature Chenoa as presenter. The next season will maintain the formula of coexistence and training within the Academy, although it will incorporate a striking novelty: the contestants will spend Christmas inside the center.
The machinery of the new edition will begin to get underway long before its premiere. The official castings will start in a year, while Gestmusic and Prime Video prepare a new season that will once again combine live galas with daily monitoring of the contestants. Thus, the anniversary and the next edition are separated on the calendar, but both are part of a new stage of 'Operación Triunfo' on the platform.
