The presenter of Directo al grano, Marta Flich, has generated a strong reaction on social media after an intervention in which she addressed the impact of the judicial investigation affecting former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Her words, especially the phrase “Disappointment is not a crime”, have quickly gone viral and have opened an intense public debate on how the information related to the case is being interpreted.
💥"If Zapatero is guilty, let him pay for it and let the full weight of the law fall upon him. But what if he is innocent?…

➡What will happen if he is innocent?", the question from Marta Flich (@martaflich) in #DirectoAlGrano26M. pic.twitter.com/AKqa06t3XQ
Flich defended the presumption of innocence and called for caution regarding information that, as she pointed out, is still in a very initial phase of the judicial process. In her intervention, she insisted that public opinion is being formed hastily and that the media impact can condition the perception of the facts before conclusions exist.
The presenter also questioned the social treatment of this type of case and raised the need to reflect on the situation of former government presidents, citing different political figures to open the debate about their role after leaving office.
Flich closed her intervention by appealing to the right to truthful information and the presumption of innocence, recalling that any person should only be judged when there is a firm resolution.
