Ira Parker, showrunner of ‘El caballero de los Siete Reinos’, spoke with the media about the future of the HBO Max series, which finished its first season on February 22. Although he admitted he would love to develop up to 12 seasons, he explained that, being realistic, it is likely that the series will be limited to two or three installments.

Regarding the second season, Parker announced that it will maintain the same structure as the first, with six episodes, and a duration of between 30 and 60 minutes per chapter, as approved by HBO: “We were able to let the episodes be what they needed to be based on the original material,” he noted.

In statements to The Wrap, the showrunner shared his vision for the long-term story: “Four of child Egg, four of prince Egg, and four of king Egg. Each block every ten years… I would love to do 12 seasons.” However, he acknowledged that this ambition probably will not fully materialize, clarifying: “To be honest, it's likely we'll only do two or three seasons.”

The first season of ‘El caballero de los Siete Reinos’ focused on the youth of Ser Duncan “Dunk” el Alto and his squire Egg (Aegon Targaryen), adapting The Hedge Knight. The second season, scheduled for 2027, will continue with The Sworn Sword, maintaining the essence of the characters and the narrative of George R. R. Martin.

With this approach, Parker makes it clear that, although he dreams of an ambitious run of 12 seasons, the pragmatic reality will be shorter, ensuring quality and fidelity to the original work.
