While La bola negra continues its run in theaters and outside of Spain, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi have decided to speak openly about one of the most personal chapters they went through during the creation of the film. Los Javis visited this Wednesday Cara al Show, the program hosted by Marc Giró, and recalled how they experienced their sentimental separation in the middle of filming the feature film.

Ambrossi was the first to add some humor to the situation: "There have been divorces. We have been swept away by La bola negra". A phrase that served as an entry point to a much more personal conversation about how they faced a breakup while continuing to work together on a project of enormous dimension.

As both explained, the separation came when the film was still in the process of being shot. Far from jeopardizing their professional relationship, they decided to face the change with honesty and preserve everything they had built together. "The separation came in the middle of the film, but we have done it so well that our families remain united, we continue to share friends", they explained to Marc Giró.

Los Javis: "If something doesn't work, let it evolve"

Calvo and Ambrossi acknowledged that it was not easy to go through that moment while still immersed in such an important film for both of them. However, they assured that the key was to accept that relationships can also transform.

"I believe that one must be in motion in life. If something doesn't work, let it evolve", they explained. Both made it clear that they continue to see each other daily and that the affection between them remains, even if their relationship has changed. "It was not the time because of the filming of the movie, but we have done it so well that the only change is that we have been honest with a reality, that there is only one life", they confessed.

The decision also did not affect their professional bond. The two continue to work together through Suma Content, the production company from which they have developed a good part of their projects. For Ambrossi, that continuity is also part of his way of understanding creation: "I feel that, as artists, you have to be like that and, if not, you cannot write honestly".

Pacharán, the dog that appeared during filming

In the middle of a conversation marked by separation, a much kinder story also appeared. During the filming of The Black Ball, Javier Calvo ended up adopting an abandoned dog, Pacharán, who appeared during one of the recordings.

"Since I was a bit... after the separation, I took him in so we could keep each other company," Calvo said. The anecdote ended up revealing that the dog also ended up winning over Ambrossi. "No matter how separated we are, I also adopt him," he added with a laugh.

Thus, Los Javis' visit to Cara al Show left one of their most personal conversations around The Black Ball: a film that, in addition to being marked by its artistic ambition, ended up accompanying one of the most important moments of transformation in the lives of its two creators.

'The Black Ball', more than 1 million viewers

The film, inspired by an unfinished work by Federico García Lorca, tells the connected lives of three men in three different eras and addresses issues such as desire, sexuality, heritage, and identity.

The feature film has arrived in theaters accompanied by an important international trajectory and a remarkable reception, also becoming one of the great Spanish premieres of the year.

And behind the film remains an even more personal story: that of two artists who decided to continue creating together after leaving their romantic relationship behind.
