The new face of RTVE's large formats: the main image changes of La 1's Telediarios and magazines

RTVE has kicked off a significant visual renovation for the 2026-2027 season. The transformation is not limited to the Telediarios: the public broadcaster is also updating the image of some of its main magazines on La 1, with new sets, graphics, and visual resources to reinforce a programming increasingly focused on current affairs and live broadcasts.

The most visible change arrived this Monday with the premiere of the new image of TVE's News Programs. Telediario 1 was the first to show the renovation, which includes a new header, jingle, graphic palette, and a completely reformulated set. The new identity will progressively extend to Canal 24 Horas and the Territorial Centers, with the aim that all news windows share a recognizable visual language without losing their particularities.

The new proposal abandons a good part of the graphic codes that had until now identified each news service separately. Colors are no longer rigidly associated with each space, and graphic elements gain movement, with compositions that can appear from different points of the screen. RTVE's intention is to bring its news programs closer to the visual language of digital platforms, with an image based on windows, tabs, movement, and different screen formats.

A news set designed to tell current events

The change is also noticeable in the space from which the news is told. The new Telediario set replaces the absolute prominence of the traditional videowall with a set of screens of different formats, including vertical screens, which allow more information to be introduced and the staging to be adapted to each event.

The table also becomes a modular element that can be modified depending on the type of broadcast: from a conventional edition to a special news program with several analysts. The space is prepared to incorporate tools such as augmented reality, Unreal, totems, or virtual backgrounds, so that technology can be integrated with the physical elements of the studio.

The renewal also coincides with TVE's 70th anniversary and keeps its current presenters at the helm of the main news programs: Álex Barreiro and Mireia Alzuria in the Telediario Matinal, Alejandra Herranz in Telediario 1, Pepa Bueno in Telediario 2, and Marc Sala and Lourdes Maldonado during the weekend.

‘Directo al grano’ also changes its setting

RTVE's visual renovation extends to its current affairs magazines. One of the most striking changes has been that of Directo al grano, which faces the new season with a more dynamic image and a redesigned set to enhance live broadcasts, street connections, and the use of graphic resources.

The space incorporates a videowall over 30 meters long, which becomes one of the main protagonists of the set. Added to this is a central table with a greater presence and a new set equipped with an independent and rotating vertical screen, designed to differentiate the program's various sections and reports. The characteristic floating crown inspired by major American magazines is also maintained.

The format keeps Marta Flich as presenter and consolidates Martín Barreiro as co-presenter, a duo that combines current affairs, analysis, and dissemination. The new staging precisely seeks to accompany this approach with more agile and visual television, where the set also has a narrative function.

‘Mañaneros 360’ premieres new resources

Another of the spaces joining this transformation is Mañaneros 360. The program, which has already begun its new season with Adela González and Jesús Cintora, has also updated its graphic identity during the premiere of the new season.

The renovation will focus especially on its visual line and on the graphic elements that appear during the broadcast, with new signs, tickers, header, bumpers and other resources aimed at modernizing the image of the magazine. RTVE places this change within a broader strategy to update its live spaces without altering the essence of formats that have strengthened their position during the last season.

‘D Corazón’ prepares a bigger set

There will also be news in D Corazón. Anne Igartiburu and Javi Hoyos' program premieres this September season with a larger and more modern set, although it will maintain a warm aesthetic to preserve the personality that has characterized the social chronicle space.

The new setting will expand the possibilities of the program, which will continue to combine interviews, live connections, current affairs and its usual sections, including Los archivos del corazón, D Corazón express and D Actualidad.

The renovation joins the changes already experienced by Malas lenguas, which begins a new stage with Gonzalo Miró, Esther Palomera and Ana Hinestrosa and also incorporates modifications in the header, bumpers and graphics.

With all these movements, RTVE faces the new season with a clear commitment to homogenize and modernize the image of its main spaces. The objective is that the new sets and graphics are not only an aesthetic change, but tools to adapt public television to an increasingly visual, fast and fragmented way of consuming information.
