Disney has released the new official trailer for the live-action of Vaiana, and it does so in style. The preview offers the most complete look to date, especially highlighting the presence of Catherine Laga'aia as Vaiana and Maui —played again by Dwayne Johnson—, as well as key creatures like Tamatoa or the imposing Te Kā.
The images confirm an ambitious visual bet, combining live action with photorealistic effects and a costume design almost identical to that of the animated version to recreate the universe of the original film. In addition to Maui, the trailer reveals iconic characters such as the Kakamora or the inseparable travel companions, remaining faithful to the spirit of the animated film while expanding its cinematic scale.
The story will follow Vaiana on her journey beyond the reef alongside the demigod Maui, on a mission to restore the balance of her people. The film, starring Catherine Lagaʻaia, will arrive in cinemas on July 8, 2026, consolidating itself as one of Disney's most anticipated remakes in recent years.
