Televisión Española (TVE) has announced an atypical program for the premiere this Friday, February 13, of the quiz show Trivial Pursuit, a television adaptation of the famous board game, which will arrive on La 1 in prime time at 10:45 PM. To reinforce its impact and attract an audience, the network has proposed a themed night titled ‘The Night of Learning by Playing’ in which its established quiz show Cifras y letras will play a fundamental role as a prelude to the premiere.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the format, Cifras y letras will jump punctually to La 1 with two new installments, even though the usual broadcast of the contest continues on La 2. With this, it is intended to attract viewers to accompany Egoitz Txurruka, presenter of ‘Trivial Pursuit’, in its first three consecutive 45-minute broadcasts, and thus generate momentum to evaluate the reception of the new space.
If the premiere of ‘Trivial Pursuit’ performs well with audiences, its placement on the TVE schedule will be defined based on that data. This strategic deployment with a double dose of the classic format intends to attract the largest number of viewers to the new proposal, facing strong competition on Friday nights, with established programs on other networks.
The special night also includes a rerun of ‘Cifras y letras’ on La 2 early in the evening, before the show moves to La 1, and completes a varied entertainment offering based on general culture and quizzes, which TVE wants to reinforce in its programming, in an attempt to mix tradition and novelty to strengthen its Friday entertainment.
