"Suddenly the phone stops ringing". María Patiño thus summarized one of the most difficult moments of her career during her return to television as a new collaborator of Cara al Show. The journalist sat this Wednesday with Marc Giró on laSexta, where she recalled the period she spent away from the small screen and how she faced a professional stage that, she admitted, she did not know how to manage at first.

Her entrance to the set was marked by emotion. To the rhythm of Crazy in Love, by Beyoncé, Patiño descended the program's stairs with teary eyes and was surprised to meet the audience again. "Oh, it's TV, how wonderful and with a real audience!", she exclaimed before thanking the welcome: "I'm delighted. It's brutal to be here, I swear, thank you".

The presenter explained that her distancing came after the cancellation of La familia de la tele, on RTVE, and her departure from No somos nadie, on TEN. "A long road was coming, very different from what I have lived for so many years and I have been fortunate, and it was a journey in the desert and I didn't know how to manage it", she admitted. However, there was a moment when she decided to look forward: "Until a moment came when you get up and say 'I want to continue'".

María Patiño considered a life outside of television

The journalist also confessed that she had thought about looking for a professional alternative away from the sets, laughing. "I would have started a business, I don't know what. I've seen that nail businesses work very well, but I don't know how to do them," she joked to Giró. Patiño explained that she needed to get back into a routine and that she didn't want to limit herself to investing in a business, but rather to be directly involved in it.

The intervention was marked by both personal confessions and her characteristic humor. Among the anecdotes she shared, Patiño spoke about the boiled eggs from the supermarket, in one of those everyday moments that ended up being part of the conversation with Giró. The journalist also had a mishap with her wardrobe when her shoe broke during the program, an unforeseen event that added a dose of spontaneity to her anticipated return.

The offer from Cara al Show came at a time when she still had nerves and fear at the possibility of exposing herself publicly again. During the conversation, she let slip that she had received proposals for other projects, although she defined this opportunity as a new stage in her television career.

The interview also had space for more personal aspects. Patiño spoke of the suffering she experienced during the period when she suffered from bulimia, of the sequelae she still identifies in her relationship with some foods, of the aesthetic interventions she has undergone. In addition, she shared some anecdotes about her daily life and the role her dog plays in the family economy.

At the end of the conversation, Marc Giró definitively welcomed his new collaborator with a phrase that closed the moment: "You're hired! This is now your new television set, your home". The farewell included a red carpet for Patiño, who thus begins a new stage at laSexta after a period of professional uncertainty.
