Miguel Contreras has defended the ambition with which La Séptima, the new television channel preparing its landing on DTT, is born, during the project's presentation. The head of the initiative has placed the channel's birth in a context where, in his opinion, the television landscape needs a deep renovation.
“We understand that it is not only a professional project, it is also a necessity,” Contreras pointed out, before questioning the current model: “The television landscape has become a little obsolete, it is a too classic model that gives fire to give more.” For the promoter of La Séptima, precisely that “giving more” is what the new channel aims to explain.
Contreras has also claimed the transcendence that the creation of a television with a vocation for permanence can achieve. “A television channel is creating history, it is creating a country, a people, a place that will undoubtedly mark many millions of Spaniards,” he defended. In this sense, he has expressed his wish that La Séptima can become a reference for viewers to better know and understand the world around them.
The head of the channel has also underlined the responsibility involved in launching a project of these characteristics, especially in a scenario marked, in his words, by “challenges,” “expectations,” and “threats.” La Séptima, he explained, is also born with a long-term perspective: “The project in principle has a minimum life of 30 years.”
“This makes us assume a great responsibility and, on the other hand, I insist, an absolute conviction that we have to do it well. We have no other option,” Contreras affirmed. A statement that summarizes the commitment with which the team faces the launch of the new channel.
His words culminated with the projection of the first images of La Séptima, a video prepared expressly to show for the first time the identity and proposal of the channel. “You are going to see the birth of a television channel that hopefully will be part of the history of Spain,” Contreras pointed out before introducing the audiovisual piece. “Welcome to history and welcome to La Séptima,” he concluded.
