RTVE is once again betting on Spanish music with Benidorm Fest 2027, which will bring together 18 artists in an edition marked by the return of familiar faces and the arrival of new promises. Vicco, the interpreter of Nochentera; Isabel Aaiún, who captivated the audience with Potra salvaje; Merche, one of the most recognizable voices in national pop, and Suzete, known for her time on Operación Triunfo 2023, are among the most prominent names on a lineup that also includes Andrés Koi, former vocalist of DVICIO. The combination of trajectories and styles reinforces the appeal of a contest that seeks to connect with different generations.

The sixth edition will be held on January 26, 28, and 30, 2027, with two semifinals and a grand final in Benidorm. Although the winner will not represent Spain in Eurovision, after RTVE's decision to keep the country out of the European contest due to Israel's participation, the public corporation maintains its commitment to the festival as a showcase to discover talent, boost musical careers, and bring new proposals to the public. A formula that has already yielded successes like Nochentera and aims to consolidate Benidorm Fest as its own event within the Spanish music scene.

Vicco, Merche, Suzete, and the 'Wild Filly' lead a lineup with 18 artists of different styles

RTVE has already unveiled the 18 artists who will compete in Benidorm Fest 2027, an edition that once again bets on musical diversity and on names capable of connecting with very different audiences. Among the big draws is Vicco, who returns to the stage where she participated in 2023 with Nochentera, a song that ended up becoming one of the biggest successes to emerge from the contest despite finishing in third position. Also noteworthy are Merche, who celebrates 25 years of musical career, and Isabel Aaiún, the artist who captivated the audience with Potra salvaje, which became a viral phenomenon and was linked to the celebration of Spain's victory in the Euro 2024.

Another name that will pique the curiosity of fans is Suzete, who became known in Operación Triunfo 2023, where she was the first expelled contestant, and who later continued to develop a musical proposal marked by African rhythms and pop. Joining her is Andrés Koi, former vocalist of DVICIO, who seeks to boost his solo career; Bombai, the Valencian trio known for Solo si es contigo; and Ladilla Rusa, celebrating a decade of trajectory with their particular mix of humor, electronic music, and tecnorumba. Also noteworthy is Gale, a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter who has worked for artists such as Shakira and Juanes and who will now give prominence to her role as a performer.

The lineup is completed by Alba Morena, composer, producer, and violinist who has worked with artists such as Ana Torroja; Chema Rivas, known for songs like Mil tequilas; Dani Dicostas, Fran Tuduri, Pipiolas, Polo Nández and Sebastián Llosa, Rossa, Sara Abad, Sev's and Tami Tamako, who incorporates influences from K-pop and her Japanese roots. The selection reflects RTVE's intention to combine experienced artists and new voices, with proposals ranging from commercial pop to alternative, urban, and international sounds. For many of the participants, the festival can become a decisive opportunity to expand their audience and give new momentum to their careers.

RTVE strengthens Benidorm Fest as a musical showcase beyond Eurovision

The sixth edition of the contest will be held at the L'Illa de Benidorm Sports Palace, with two semifinals on January 26 and 28, 2027 and a grand final on Saturday the 30th. The candidate songs will be published on December 17, after a selection process that received nearly 900 proposals. RTVE thus maintains a structure that allows artists to be presented, gives the public time to discover their songs, and turns the January galas into one of the public television's major musical events.

The corporation will also retain the economic prize of 150,000 euros, with 100,000 for the winning performers and 50,000 for the authors of the song, in addition to the recognitions linked to Spotify and Univision, aimed at boosting the promotion and professional projection of the participants. The voting system will combine the criteria of the professional jury, with a weight of 50%, the televote, with 25%, and the demoscopic jury, with the remaining 25%. With these measures, RTVE seeks for the festival not to be limited to a television competition, but to also function as a platform to discover talent and generate new opportunities in the music industry.

The big difference in this edition is that Benidorm Fest will not serve as a pre-selection for Eurovision, after RTVE decided to keep Spain out of the European contest due to Israel's presence. The decision does not, however, mean abandoning the Alicante festival: the corporation maintains its commitment to an event with its own identity, capable of promoting songs and artists without depending on their participation in the European competition. Vicco's journey with Nochentera is one of the clearest examples of the format's potential: she didn't win the contest, but she managed to turn her song into a popular hit. With the return of well-known artists and the incorporation of new proposals, RTVE seeks to consolidate its role as a showcase for Spanish music and bring national talent to new audiences.
