The internal discomfort in the PP of Madrid has ceased to be a corridor rumor to become an open conversation among members, organic positions, and municipal representatives.
According to highly reliable party sources consulted by ElConstitucional.es, the leadership headed by Isabel Díaz Ayuso is generating growing concern over a succession of appointments and dismissals that many interpret as “finger-pointing” and decisions adopted without due internal debate.
The situation, various voices from the party acknowledge to this newspaper, is “very turbulent”. “The people [from PP de Madrid] are desperate and disoriented”, they assure, in direct reference to the role that José Antonio Sánchez and Ana Millán, the executors of Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, are playing, in the recent organic movements. Several local leaders also speak of a climate of bewilderment regarding decisions that, they maintain, fully affect the territorial structure without detailed public explanations.

The ghost of the era of Pablo Casado
The parallelism that is most repeated in internal conversations is that of the Pablo Casado era. Then alleged maneuvers of organic control and internal confrontation strategies that generated a deep fracture were forcefully denounced. The judicial route was even considered in the face of what was considered an attempt to intervene in the party's structures.
In that context, sources consulted by this media recall, leaders like Sánchez and Millán were publicly singled out for their involvement in internal tension dynamics, including leaks and mobilization of supporters against other party figures like Ana Camins or Pío García-Escudero. That stage is considered by many to be one of the most delicate moments for Madrid's PP.
Therefore, various sources from the PP of Madrid now emphasize to ElConstitucional.es, it is surprising that certain practices that were then described as unacceptable today seem to be repeating themselves —“and even worsening,” they point out to this newspaper— without the same demand for transparency or exemplary conduct existing.
Cessations, management committees and resignations
In recent weeks there have been dismissals and appointments that not only impact the Asamblea de Madrid, but also the organic structure of the party. Some of those dismissed held relevant internal responsibilities, and yet —according to officials consulted by ElConstitucional.es— no detailed explanation has been offered that publicly justifies such changes.
To this is added the constitution of new local management committees which, according to these same sources, would not have been subjected to the formal approval of the Executive Committee nor of the Board of Directors, as the party's statutes stipulate.
The discomfort has been amplified by resignations of mayors in circumstances that occurred without due transparency and under all suspicion. This is the case of the mayor of Morata de Tajuña -a month ago-, a municipality politically linked to the circle of José Antonio Sánchez, or the situation that the mayor of Móstoles accused of sexual and labor aggression against a former PP councilwoman is going through. These episodes, explain several local 'popular' leaders, have fueled the perception of instability and lack of clear direction.
The statutory deadlines of the PP of Madrid, in the spotlight
Beyond the proper names, the statutory issue has become another point of friction. The last meeting of the Regional Board of Directors took place on September 29, 2025. The statutes establish that an ordinary session must be convened at least once every four months, which placed the next call, at most, around January 29, 2026.
As of February 26, 2026, that deadline has been exceeded by approximately one month. For many officials consulted, it is not an administrative detail, but a basic guarantee of participation and democratic control within the organization. “When bodies are not convened and decisions are adopted without sufficient debate or explanations, wear and tear is inevitable”, they summarize.
They demand the convocation of the autonomous Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors to calm the waters
The internal climate is one of evident tension, although most of the consulted voices insist that they are not seeking a personal confrontation, but political coherence and respect for internal rules. “If in the past practices were denounced for considering them contrary to statutory functioning, now we must be equally demanding”, they point out.
In this context, everything indicates that in the coming days a Comité Ejecutivo del PP de Madrid will be convened with the aim of addressing the internal discomfort and trying to redirect the situation. The meeting is interpreted as an attempt to reduce pressure and offer explanations to a membership that, according to sources consulted by ElConstitucional.es, demands to recover organic normality, meet deadlines and strengthen cohesion.
