The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has announced that the Andalusian Government will propose to flexibilize and adapt part of the European funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (MRR), included in Next Generation, in order to allocate them to the reconstruction of the areas most affected by the recent storms and to the economic reactivation of the primary sectorThe objective, as he has explained, is to gather the maximum possible resources so that, once the storm subsides and the emergency situation ends, normality can be restored "in the shortest possible time". Moreno made these statements during a visit to different affected areas in the province of Córdoba, as well as to the Advanced Command Post set up in the capital to monitor the rains and the state of the riverbeds and reservoirsThe Andalusian president has stressed that the immediate priority remains the emergency services and the monitoring of rivers and reservoirs, although he has underlined the need to quickly begin planning the repair of the damage caused. "Now the urgent thing is to prevent the loss of human lives and essential assets such as homes, but we must also think about how to help people return to their homes and rebuild their daily lives," he pointed out. In this regard, he added that it will also be necessary to reactivate the productive system and sectors such as tourism, which have been affected by the storm.
Call to the central Government
After the first estimations, Moreno has recognized that the economic impact of the storms “is going to be millionaire”. He has advanced that, starting on Tuesday or Wednesday, when it is predicted that the worst of the meteorological episode subsides, they will proceed to quantify the damages to set in motion the recovery phase. A stage that, according to what he has warned, will condition “the budget of all the Junta de Andalucía”.
The president has called on the central Government to join this effort, both through the Contingency Fund and by requesting the European Union to activate the community Solidarity Fund, independent of the RRF resources included in the Next Generation.
