The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has led an official event in memory of Blas Infante on the occasion of the 141st anniversary of his birth in Malaga, the first he attends as regional president after his inauguration at the Palacio de San Telmo and his investiture in the Andalusian Parliament, both held last week.
In the speech Moreno offered in homage to the father of the Andalusian homeland, he appealed to an "idea of regeneration that remains alive in Andalusia, a symptom of the leadership vocation that the autonomous community exhibits today." Regarding the homage itself, he highlighted that: "Today we share with Blas Infante that dream of prosperity and development for our land, and also the rejection of hatred in favor of understanding and an integrating and regenerating spirit. His figure made us see that nothing is impossible for an Andalusia that has become aware of itself and what it is capable of achieving when it sets its mind to it."
At the beginning of this legislature in Andalusia, Moreno has once again emphasized the basic values that will continue to mark his mandate: "We must continue to improve for Andalusia, maintaining that Andalusian way that speaks of serenity, concord, and understanding. One should not be afraid of those who think differently, but of those who do not think," he stressed.
To conclude his speech at this event, he once again praised the values and figure of Blas Infante: "That great Andalusian, and great democrat, emphasized concord and dialogue as ethical values. And he appealed to people with the most opposing ideas to unite for the ideal of Andalusia. These principles remain valid, inspiring us to act correctly in these times different from his, but which still demand courage, commitment, and unity," concluded the president of the Junta.
