Juanma Moreno begins his third term in Andalusia: "There is no time to lose"

Juanma Moreno has been invested this Thursday as president of the Junta de Andalucía for the third consecutive time. The popular candidate has obtained the confidence of the Andalusian Parliament in the second vote, with 68 votes in favor and 41 against, an unprecedented support in the autonomous history of the community.

After the vote, Moreno wanted to focus on the start of the legislature and the need for Andalusia not to be paralyzed. “Andalusia cannot stop, there is no time to lose. Our community could not remain blocked,” said the Andalusian president after receiving the support of the Chamber.

The leader of the Andalusian PP has defended that the new stage must begin as soon as possible and has linked his investiture to the political stability of the coming years. “We need stability to continue advancing. In this time we have put all our effort into dialoguing with those who have wanted to dialogue,” he pointed out.

Moreno thus reaches his third term at the head of the Junta after a legislature marked by the absolute majority of the PP and regional elections in which he once again positioned himself as the leading political force in Andalusia. The new mandate now opens with a broad parliamentary majority and with the objective, as the president himself has defended, of maintaining the pace of management and reforms.

“Being president of your land is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to you,” Moreno said after the investiture. The Andalusian leader has admitted feeling “satisfied” by the support received, although also “overwhelmed by the responsibility” he assumes again.

The second vote was held 48 hours after the first, as established by the Regulations of the Andalusian Parliament. In the initial session, Moreno presented his government program and responded to the spokespersons of the parliamentary groups. This Thursday, the Chamber has closed the investiture process and has formally given way to the beginning of the new legislature and the new Government with Vox.

The president of the Andalusian Parliament, Jesús Aguirre, will now communicate the election to the King so that Moreno's official appointment as president of the Junta de Andalucía can proceed. Then will come the swearing-in and the formation of the new autonomous coalition Executive.
