The Niebla fire in Huelva gives a small truce despite the 25,000 hectares already burned and its entry into Seville

The fire declared last Thursday in Niebla, Huelva, continues active today, although it is true that its advance has slowed down notably. This fire has already exceeded 25,000 hectares burned, although the spread recorded this Tuesday has been half of Monday's and barely a quarter of what it presented three days ago, so no new municipality has had to be evacuated.

The evacuated people remain the same as the previous day, 680 people, of whom 509 are from Huelva. The first vice president of the Junta and Minister of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, explained that the extinction efforts this Tuesday consisted of "closing doors" to the fire and continuing to strangle the flanks of the fire until the perimeter was completely closed.

Today, Wednesday, the improvement arrives after several especially complicated days. This Tuesday, fewer convective phenomena of lower intensity were recorded, although secondary outbreaks and some significant jumps continued to appear. Regarding the dimension of the fire, Sanz compared its behavior to that of "seven independent fires," with as many axes evolving differently and forcing efforts to be distributed along an extraordinarily irregular perimeter.

For now, despite the positive evolution, evacuations are not allowed to be lifted. Evacuated people must remain out of their homes, while operational situation 2 and current road closures are maintained. The Junta insists that there is still work ahead and avoids setting a date for a possible change in the emergency level.

The fire reaches Seville

The forest fire declared in Huelva has entered the province of Seville, affecting the Charcofrío area of the town of Aznalcóllar. The mayor of the municipality, Juan José Fernández, informed this morning through his social networks that the fire has entered his municipal area and pointed out that at this moment, "the situation is very complicated due to the large accumulation of forest mass and the difficult orography of the terrain, factors that hinder control efforts." From the City Council, a message of full confidence has been launched, "in the work of the extinction services, who are using all necessary means on the ground." And finally, neighbors have been warned to "avoid unnecessary travel to the area and not obstruct the passage of emergency vehicles to facilitate their work."
