This Wednesday, the fire that originated in Villanueva de los Castillejos and also affects San Bartolomé de la Torre, Huelva, has worsened due to the change in wind. In this regard, the acting Minister of Health, Presidency and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, has raised the emergency situation to level 2. In addition, he has announced that the Military Emergency Unit (UME) will join the operation.

So far, today, 100 people have had to be evacuated from their homes. In this context, Sanz has reported that the 22 seasonal workers and 250 people who were in the enabled pavilion in San Bartolomé have returned to their homes. However, the 26 citizens who are in La Venta del Cazador, in Gibraleón, Huelva, must remain there.

The acting Minister of Health, Presidency and Emergencies explained that around 11:00 or 12:00 hours a change in wind is expected that could reverse the dynamics of the fire, so that the tail behaves like the head, "complicating the situation again and favoring its advance towards high areas," potentially reaching Alosno, where the fire was extinguished on Monday.

Given the concern about the matter, Sanz has indicated that 25 aerial assets will be incorporated, 150 personnel, 16 fire engines and a tender will continue to work. To conclude his intervention, he thanked the "full and total disposition" of the personnel and the commitment of the mayors of Villanueva de Castillejos, San Bartolomé de la Torre and Gibraleón.
