The operation to extinguish the forest fire declared in the El Valle regional park faces a new day with the reinforcement of several aerial means, which have begun to intervene since early hours of this Wednesday.

The flames have already affected an area of 177 hectares and remain active, so emergency services maintain a wide deployment of resources to try to control the situation.

The president of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, has reported that the first aircraft joined the extinction efforts early in the day and that the progressive arrival of more means is planned to increase operational capacity.

The fire forced the evacuation of approximately one hundred residents of Los Garres. In parallel, more than 250 personnel from different administrations continue to work on the ground, including members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

According to the Government delegate, Francisco Lucas, the UME has maintained throughout the night an important deployment composed of more than 200 military personnel and 70 vehicles, in an action that he considers essential along with air support to advance towards controlling the fire.
