The socialist leader Carlos Martínez has stated that he does not understand that the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, was “exultant” after the regional elections because, in his opinion, “the Vox monster is still there.”
Martínez has criticized the assessment made by the leader of the PP after the election results became known and has considered that there are no reasons to celebrate the result when Vox maintains presence in the autonomous Parliament.
In this regard, the socialist leader has pointed out that the election result shows that the far-right formation continues to have political weight in the community, something that, as he has warned, should be a cause for concern and not satisfaction.
During his statements, Martínez has defended that the electoral results leave a political scenario that demands “responsibility” from the political forces and has insisted that the Popular Party must clarify what its relationship with Vox will be in the new stage.
The socialist leader has also warned of the risk that the PP will again depend on Vox to govern in the community, something that, he has pointed out, has already occurred in previous stages of the legislature.
In his opinion, the result of the elections should serve to reflect on the role that the far-right formation can continue to have in regional politics and on the possible alliances that may occur in the Parliament of Castilla y León.
Martínez has insisted that the PSOE will continue defending a political alternative in the community based on public policies and on the defense of public services against the approaches that, as he has pointed out, PP and Vox represent.
