Míriam Nogueras, spokesperson for Junts in the Congress of Deputies, announced this Wednesday that her group will once again register the bill for the delegation of immigration powers to the Generalitat, in addition to also announcing that it will do so alone. "Catalonia urgently needs to be able to make its own decisions and to be the one to answer to citizens for the decisions made by the Government of Catalonia and not for the decisions made 600 kilometers away," the spokesperson said in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio.

They would like to maintain that Catalonia assumes powers in the authorization of temporary residence for migrants and long-term stays, in the issuance of identity documents for foreigners, in addition to the Mossos sharing security in ports and airports with the National Police and the Civil Guard. These are some of the modifications regarding the first proposal, which they did manage to agree on with the PSOE, however, it was rejected by Podemos.

Due to this rejection, the statement of reasons will be withdrawn to prevent Podemos, who called the first proposal racist, from rejecting the law: "Right now there is no excuse not to vote yes, because that part that they said bothered them at the time is no longer there." On the other hand, Nogueras avoided commenting on whether they have agreed with the PSOE on the presentation of this new bill, although she hinted that, "this is one of the pending issues and they know it."

To conclude on this matter, the spokesperson sent a message: "Since we believe that citizens cannot wait any longer and that our responsibility is to make decisions in the face of the non-decisions that neither the Govern nor the Socialist Party Government are making, we are doing it," she concluded.

She also talks about the situation in Ceuta

Nogueras also wanted to comment on the announcement by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to appear before Congress due to the crisis in Ceuta, to which she said that, "the socialists are always late, but they are late in everything." Finally, she continued her criticism of Sánchez and his management in Ceuta: "Everyone is starting to be very fed up with so much rhetoric, so much show, so much mud, because in the end all this is mud," she concluded.
