Ayuso's Executive sees Sánchez's end "marked" after 'Julito' Martínez's testimony against Zapatero: "Everything that 'sanchismo' touches turns into corruption"

The Government of the Community of Madrid has escalated its criticism against Pedro Sánchez's Executive this Tuesday following the latest developments in the so-called Plus Ultra case. The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, has assured that the statements made by businessman Julio Martínez reinforce suspicions about the management of the airline's rescue and has defended that the central Government's "end" "is marked".

During a media address, García Martín recalled that Zapatero is, "for the first time in democracy," an imputed former President of the Government, and stressed that he will now have to "give explanations for everything that has happened in recent years." According to the minister, the known testimony "comes to show that we have a former President of the Government who has used his position to set up a plot that is now being investigated."

García Martín also attacked the figure of Zapatero, whom he defined as the "moral authority of the PSOE," and used that reference to extend his criticism to the entire party. "Everything that 'sanchismo' touches turns into corruption," he assured, insisting that judicial investigations already affect different members of the socialist circle.

The minister concluded by demanding that Pedro Sánchez leave the Presidency of the Government and call general elections. In his opinion, the Executive is going through a situation of irreversible wear and tear and Spain needs a new Government that, he defended, can regain the trust of citizens.

The president of Plus Ultra reinforces 'Julito's' version and points to Zapatero

In the letter sent to Judge José Luis Calama, Julio Martínez Sola states that the airline resorted in January 2021 to Idella Consulenza, a company linked to Julio Martínez Martínez, to facilitate the procedures related to the request for public financing. The agreement contemplated a remuneration equivalent to 1% of the amount granted if SEPI ended up approving the rescue.

The president of Plus Ultra acknowledges that the company ended up paying 527,417 euros, an amount very close to the initially agreed, through several payments made through companies controlled by Martínez Martínez.

In his account, Martínez Sola assures that neither he nor the airline's then financial director had "reliable knowledge" of the specific actions taken to favor the granting of public aid. As he explains, the hiring responded to the delicate economic situation the company was going through and was understood as a measure to try to guarantee its continuity.

The document also states that Plus Ultra officials were aware of Martínez Martínez's relationship with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and trusted that this closeness could facilitate communication during the processing of the rescue.
