Justice has compelled the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to create a registry of doctors who are conscientious objectors to abortion, as established by current legislation. The judicial resolution considers that the regional administration must implement this list to guarantee the effective compliance with the law and women's access to voluntary termination of pregnancy.

The registry aims to identify healthcare professionals who invoke conscientious objection in order not to participate in the practice of abortions. In this way, health authorities can organize services and ensure that there are doctors available to perform these interventions within the public health system.

The judicial decision comes after a claim presented by organizations that denounced the lack of application of this mechanism in the Community of Madrid. According to what they argued, the absence of the registry hindered healthcare planning and could obstruct effective access to this right recognized by law.

With the resolution, the court obliges the autonomous administration to develop this administrative instrument, which is already contemplated in the state regulations on sexual and reproductive health. The measure seeks to guarantee both the right of professionals to conscientious objection and women's access to healthcare provision.
