Más Madrid has opened this week the primaries to elect the people who will lead their candidacies for the mayoralties of 23 municipalities in the Community of Madrid in the local elections of May 2027. The party has launched a second round of internal processes with which it seeks to define its municipal teams and prepare its presence in the next elections.

The procedure is now in the phase of rectifying the census and presenting candidacy interveners, a period that will remain open until November 6. Then will come the internal campaign, scheduled between November 23 and 27, although it will have to be interrupted by the celebration of the general elections on the 29th. The voting will finally take place between November 30 and December 2.

This is the second round of primaries organized by the party to designate its representatives in the 2027 elections. The first was held before the summer and included the candidacy for the Assembly of Madrid and various municipalities, including the capital and Alcorcón, where internal tensions had already arisen regarding the configuration of the lists.

Más Madrid governs in two of the 23 municipalities

Of the 23 processes that have been opened on this occasion, Más Madrid is part of the municipal government of two localities. One of them is Getafe, where it has responsibilities in Ecological Transition and Environment, Citizen Participation and Action in Neighborhoods, as well as Youth and Democratic Memory.

The second municipality is Cercedilla, where the party took over in 2025 the areas of Education, Social Movements and Citizen Participation. The rest of the localities where primaries will be held are Arganda del Rey, Arroyomolinos, Boadilla del Monte, Bocema (El Boalo, Cerceda y Mataelpino), Ciempozuelos, Colmenar Viejo, Colmenarejo, Fuenlabrada, Hoyo de Manzanares, Las Rozas, Majadahonda, Morata de Tajuña, Navalcarnero, Paracuellos de Jarama, Pinto, San Fernando de Henares, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Torrelodones, Valdemorillo, Villanueva de la Cañada and Villaviciosa de Odón.

The opening of these processes allows the organization to begin defining its candidacies in municipalities where it aspires to run in the next local elections. The internal vote will determine who will head the lists, a decision that will mark the electoral preparation of the party during the coming months.

The party also claims prominence in the Broad Front for 29N

The organization of municipal candidacies coincides with another electoral process: the preparation of the general elections on November 29. In this case, Más Madrid participates in the Broad Front, the confluence space formed together with Izquierda Unida, Movimiento Sumar and the commons.

The Madrid formation has defended that parties with territorial presence have the capacity to decide the composition of the lists in their respective communities. In the case of Madrid, its leadership proposed that Emilio Delgado head the coalition's candidacy, with Mónica García in second place, while it proposed that Ada Colau lead the list for Barcelona. The proposal is part of its defense of an organizational model that gives greater weight to the forces of each territory.

In this way, Más Madrid faces two different processes: on the one hand, the negotiation and organization of the Broad Front candidacies for the general elections; on the other, the election of its municipal representatives for May 2027. The primaries now open in 23 localities are part of this second preparation and will have to be resolved by early December.
