The controversial penthouse that the Executive of the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, bought to use, as they defended, as an "office", has cost 6.3 million euros, according to 'El País'. Likewise, the media has reported that the real estate agency that carried out the management took a 3% commission.

The acquisition of the property through the public company Planifica Madrid, directed by the Minister of the Presidency Miguel Ángel Martín, came to light last July 29, in the midst of the crisis due to forest fires. In just one day, the regional government went from defending the operation to announcing that it would put the property up for sale. The acquisition with public money has unleashed criticism from the opposition. In this regard, the Madrid PSOE has demanded this Monday an urgent meeting of the Permanent Deputation Board of the Madrid Assembly for the Ayuso Government to give explanations about the purchase and about the alleged works in the Real Casa de Correos with which they justify the acquisition.

The main point of conflict lies in the purpose intended for the property and its compatibility with urban planning regulations. While Ayuso defended that the penthouse would serve as a provisional workspace during the rehabilitation of the Real Casa de Correos, the headquarters of the regional Presidency, municipal regulations establish that this apartment, due to its location and characteristics, must have an exclusively residential use.

For the PSOE, the purchase of the luxury home in the exclusive neighborhood of Madrid clashes with the principles of "transparency and legality" and they point out that said acquisition is not included in the annual budget. In the same way, they criticize that there is no contracting file for "the invoked rehabilitation works nor is there an assessment of patrimonial alternatives." Given this, the Madrid socialists demand "to shed light on a matter that deserves clarity and transparency."

The spokesperson for the Madrid PSOE concluded by stating that the works are "a hoax". "Ms. Ayuso has come here to live the high life and what Quirón doesn't pay her, the people of Madrid will. What is happening in Madrid is an absolute disgrace."

The luxurious penthouse

The home features a completely soundproofed private cinema room, five bedrooms with their own bathrooms, spacious dressing rooms, a kitchen equipped with high-end finishes, a bedroom for service staff, and a terrace of nearly 200 square meters with panoramic views of the capital.

The program Mañaneros 360, on TVE, exclusively broadcast this Monday the video with which the sale of the property was promoted. The recording shows for the first time the interior of the home purchased by Planifica Madrid, located on the paseo del General Martínez Campos, and allows appreciating its fully residential character, with spaces for rest, an independent dining room, and several suite-type rooms.

The exclusive was advanced by journalist Pablo Collantes before its broadcast on the public channel's morning show. During his intervention, he recalled that the property was advertised on the market as a luxury home, with a starting price of 6.6 million euros, which ended up being acquired by a public company of the Community of Madrid before the regional government finally decided to put it back on sale.
