The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities and general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant, has described as "disappointing" the speech delivered by the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, whom she has reproached for "having nothing to contribute to the Valencian Community".

Morant made these statements to the media after the institutional act of 9 d’Octubre, Day of the Valencian Community, in which Juanfran Pérez Llorca demanded to correct "injustices" in financing, water and infrastructures, and defended that "We do not ask for privileges, we ask for equality".

The socialist leader has assured that "she really thought they were going to give him a good speech", but has insisted that the message from the head of the Consell has been "absolutely disappointing". In her opinion, Juanfran Pérez Llorca is aware that this has been "his first speech and his last speech for 9 d'Octubre", because "he has nothing to contribute" to the Valencian Community.

Morant has also criticized that, in her opinion, the president of the Generalitat "when he mentions the problems of Valencians, he always ends up passing the buck". In this sense, she has pointed out that Pérez Llorca is the "culprit" for "our hospitals being closed in the afternoon and not performing operations and people having high waiting list days".

Furthermore, she has stated that the head of the Consell is responsible for "our schools falling apart and having overcrowded classrooms and exhausted teachers". She has also alluded to the encampment that remains in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where, she said, there are "so many young people demanding a right to housing", and has placed the Popular Party "on the side of the vulture fund".

Regarding housing, Diana Morant has maintained that Juanfran Pérez Llorca is "responsible" and "competent", but has added that "the only thing they have done in this legislature has been to build some homes and distribute them among themselves", in allusion to the public protection housing complex (VPP) of Residencial Les Naus in Playa de San Juan, Alicante. In her opinion, it is "an absolutely exploited project".

The minister and socialist leader has also regretted that the victims of the DANA have not been awarded and has promised that, "next year, with me as president, the victims will enter the Palau to receive the award that the PP has not wanted to give them". Later, she reiterated this idea by emphasizing that, "as president of the Generalitat, the victims of the DANA will enter the Palau to receive the award that this negligent and indecent government has not been able to give us".

Morant downplays the poll and focuses on the street

Asked about the poll conducted for the Prensa Ibérica newspapers, which indicates that the PP would again be the most voted party in upcoming regional elections and would obtain 41 deputies in Les Corts Valencianes, one more than in 2023, Morant replied that the "most important poll" is "the street".

Specifically, according to that poll, Vox would achieve 13 seats, which would give the PP a comfortable majority to govern the Valencian Community again, while in the left bloc the PSPV would gain three seats, from 31 to 34, and Compromís would fall from 15 to 11 parliamentarians.

The leader of the PSPV has defended that the true measurement is in "families, teachers and children demanding public education" against a Consell that, she has denounced, is "privatizing and making cuts". She has also placed in the same reading young people who ask for housing before a regional government that, in her opinion, is "on the side of vulture funds".

In the same vein, Diana Morant has stated that the poll is in "workers who continue to demand a decent pension system and wages" against a Popular Party that, she said, is "flirting with eliminating pensions" and with "sick leave also being a right". "And I represent that citizenry", she added.

Finally, the general secretary of the PSPV has reiterated her commitment to open the Palau de la Generalitat to those who, in her opinion, need "their rights, their struggle and their dignity" to be represented in the institution.
