The 2026 work calendar will bring a long weekend at the beginning of November for some Spanish workers. All Saints' Day, which is celebrated every year on November 1st, falls on a Sunday this year. For this reason, nine autonomous communities have decided to move the holiday to Monday, November 2nd.
According to the work calendar published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), this decision will allow workers in these territories to enjoy three consecutive days of rest, from Saturday, October 31st to Monday, November 2nd. However, the long weekend will not be the same throughout Spain, as other communities will maintain Monday as a regular working day.
Which communities will have a holiday on Monday, November 2nd?
The autonomous communities that will have a holiday on Monday, November 2nd are Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, and Navarre. In these territories, the transfer of the All Saints' Day holiday will allow for a long weekend without needing to request vacation days. An opportunity to organize a getaway, travel, or rest before the last stretch of the year arrives.

On the contrary, Monday, November 2nd will be a working day in the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Galicia, the Region of Murcia, the Basque Country, La Rioja, the Valencian Community, and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla. In these places, workers must go to their workplaces, unless it coincides with a local holiday or another particular circumstance.
Why do some communities have a long weekend and others don't?
The difference lies in the organization of the work calendar. When a holiday coincides with a Sunday, the autonomous communities can decide how to distribute certain holidays within their annual calendar.
Therefore, although All Saints' Day is celebrated throughout Spain on November 1st, not all territories move the day off to the following Monday. Each community establishes its own calendar in accordance with the options provided in labor regulations.

Before organizing a trip or planning a few days off, it is advisable to consult the regional and municipal labor calendar. This way, workers can check if Monday, November 2, is a holiday in their town and avoid surprises when organizing their plans.
The next long weekends in December 2026
November will not be the only opportunity to enjoy several days of rest before Christmas. The December labor calendar also includes dates that will allow extending the weekend in some communities.
Monday, December 7, will be a holiday in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, the Region of Murcia, La Rioja, and Melilla. In these territories, the rest will join Tuesday, December 8, Immaculate Conception Day, and the previous weekend.
For its part, December 8 will be a holiday throughout Spain. Therefore, those who want to take advantage of the last long weekends of 2026 should review the dates of their community and local holidays to organize their vacations in advance.
